Q: Why is the Oman branch of LIC International closing?
A: Due primarily to operational reasons and profitability concerns.
Q: When is the Oman branch closing?
A: The Oman branch will be closed with effect from 01.08.2023.
Q: Will my policy servicing be affected by the closure of the Oman branch?
A: No. It will remain with LIC International, Bahrain and continue to be serviced by our Bahrain branch with effect from 01.08.2023. We have already sent notifications by email and SMS to all policyholders whose details are available regarding the closure of the Oman branch. We already notified through newspapers in Oman on 24.05.2023 and 25.05.2023 in Times of Oman both Arabic and English Editions and on 28.05.2023 in Oman Observer both Arabic and English Editions.
Q: Will there be any changes in my policy terms and conditions?
A: No, there will be no changes in your policy terms and conditions.
Q: Is there anything I need to do regarding transferring my policy servicing to the Bahrain branch?
A: No, there is nothing you need to do. If you do not have any policy servicing request till 15.07.2023, your policy will be transferred to the Bahrain branch automatically. However, you must ensure that your contact details, like mobile numbers and email, are updated in our system. If you relocate in future, please inform us about the change in contact details.
Q: Will I be able to access my policy information after the Oman branch closes?
A: Yes, you can access your policy information and manage your policy through our portal and mobile application. You must first register your policy by visiting www.licinternational.com. You can also contact us through our dedicated customer service WhatsApp number, Phone Number and email of our Bahrain Branch which will be informed to you in due course.
Q: What will happen to my premiums and claims after the Oman branch closes?
A: Your premiums will be collected by our Bahrain Branch office, which will also process your claims and any servicing requests. We will inform you about the new bank account details of Oman to send the premiums shortly. Till then, you can send the money to our existing bank account.
Q: Can I transfer my policy to LIC of India?
A: You can transfer your policy to LIC of India if it is in force or fully paid (except for ULIP and pension policies). ULIP policies and pension policies will continue to be serviced in Bahrain. On transfer to LIC of India, the currency will change to INR as per the exchange rate on the request submission date.
Q: How do I get my policy benefits after the closure of the Oman branch?
A: We will inform you about the claim benefits, and the necessary forms will be sent to the registered email well in advance. We will also notify you about the claim falling due by SMS. The policyholder can then submit the signed forms and the documents to the LIC International, Bahrain Branch office to receive the payments in their bank account in INR, OMR, or USD.
